Pilates Community Forum > Moving overseas and teaching
Once you know where you are going, you can do online research to get a feel for the different studios in the area.
I owned a studio for 13 years. For me, someone showing up out of nowhere with a resume was very annoying as I was WITH A ClIENT.
I think the best move is to actually DO some pilates at a few places, take a class or a private, THEN email or leave your resume after class. It is flattering to the place to feel chosen. Not just a scattershot attempt to get some work at any old place.
Hi!
If you end up going to the States, check out craigslist.org and look through the category Jobs, Subcategory saloon/spa/fitness.
People post there job opportunities every day and it's the best way to find a potential employer/ private clients. You can also post your resume on the same website.
I moved to LA last year from Moscow and found my work as a pilates trainer through Craigslist within a month. Good luck!

Hi all,
I know this topic has come up before but I wanted to get some more info. I am an instructor in Australia and will be heading over to either Chicago, New York or London with my partner at the end of this year while he does a 3 month study exchange. What I was wondering is if it is possible for me to teach Pilates in those city's for a short term stay as I would love to keep working. I know it's not a very long time but I have noticed that these situations are not uncommon with Pilates instructors. I have been teaching since 2009 and am certified with the Australian Pilates Method Association. Any help you could provide will be much appreciated.
