Pilates Community Forum > Call for comments: Researching 'the Pelvic Floor' changes.

Please send me stories, comments, quotes, etc. regarding feedback that you are hearing (and experiencing) about changes clients experience when the pelvic floor is strengthened. I'm doing a research paper and would love a broad array of input.
THANK YOU in advance!

I was an aerobic and step instructor for many years. In my late 30's and 40's, I started to develop stress incontinence. I went for physical therapy and was instructed in kegel exercises ,as well as using the small vaginal weights. They were helpful but I still could not "feel" my pelvic floor. I am now 58 and able to still do my step class without any leakage due to my regular Pilates practice. I believe that it takes a while to really be able to feel the pelvic floor working due to lack of proprioceptive feedback in beginners. However, the use of the adductor muscles and connecting with the whole core really helped me to find the pelvic floor . I am very interested in your research. Would you let me know when you are finished? Thanks!
