BW.smile.300dpi.bmpIn the host studio for the teacher-training program I attended there was no orientation of new clients. After more than a year of seeing clients churn because the work can be difficult for those unfamiliar with it, I knew I would go a different way. And I did.

For months I thought about what new clients really need to know before beginning in order to avoid or at least minimize frustration and to properly prepare them for how difficult it is to perform the exercises properly. I came up with a short presentation—it takes about 10 minutes to get through—that covers a distilled history of the work, the basic biomechanical concepts, highlights of the research proving its effectiveness, the general benefits of the work and the specific benefits each individual client may enjoy based on their goals. There is also an anatomy slideshow of Powerhouse muscles and a hands-on demonstration the basic transverse and multifidus engagement—the scoop, lift and load.
